The CYO offers three different orchestras to engage young musicians with varying levels of experience. Each orchestra has opportunities to perform exciting repertoire as well as unique opportunities to collaborate as combined groups. With our special mentorship program, we have university students and advanced musicians working with the students to coach students on their specific instruments.
JUNIOR STRINGS
Conducted by David Voth, this orchestra gives younger string players their first experience with an ensemble, playing music that is fun and engaging. These players will also have the opportunity to perform in a full orchestra setting when they join together with the Intermediate Orchestra.
Fee: $100.00 a year
INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA
Also conducted by David Voth, the Intermediate Orchestra incorporates wind, brass, and percussion players alongside more experienced string players to create a full orchestra. They perform a wide variety of music, from jazz standards to classical masterworks. Combining with the Senior Orchestra will also allow these players to learn from their more advanced peers as they perform larger symphonic works.
Fee: $120.00 a year
SENIOR ORCHESTRA
Conducted by Maestro Louwershiemer, the Senior Orchestra will challenge and inspire the most advanced players as they perform exciting symphonic repertoire with artistry and increasing skill.
Fee: $120.00 a year
Solchan Kim
CYO Violinist
"I found myself chatting and mingling with other members that weren't even close to my age, and everyone is friendly. The CYO was what made me an active orchestral member in other orchestras as well."
